Statement of Faith

In essential beliefs (listed below) we have unity (Ephesians 4:4-6). In non-essential beliefs we have liberty (Romans 14:1, 4, 12, 22). In all our beliefs we show charity (1 Corinthians 13:2). (“grace and love” motivation instead of “law” mentality)

We believe in the Bible as the verbally inspired Word of God. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian belief and living. Because it is inspired by God, all Scripture is authoritative and without error in any category of knowledge, including science and history. We believe the Bible is to be interpreted in a literal and normal way — this means to consider history, grammar, context, and harmony with other Scriptures as guidelines for interpretation. We believe that the Holy Spirit guides the believer to understand the Bible. (Matthew 5:18; John 10:35; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Revelation 22:18-19)

We believe God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe, existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God, eternal in being, identical in essence, equal in power and glory having the same attributes and perfection. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless human life, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He physically arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin, Satan, and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again some day to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (John 1:1, 14, 18; Luke 1:35; Romans 3:24-26, 4:25)

We believe the Holy Spirit is present and alive in the world today making men aware of their sin and need for a relationship with Jesus Christ. He also lives “in” every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He is the source of all spiritual gifts and apportions them to every believer to do His ministry. As Christians, we are to live under His control daily. (John 3:8, 14:16; 15:26-27, 16:7-15; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18)

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, became alienated from God, and is totally unable without God’s grace to regain its former position. (Genesis 1:26, 3:1-24; Romans 3:23, 5:12; Ephesians 2:12)
